Strong determination put Asif into the pre-quarters; defeated Shachar in a close match

2012 World Champion Muhammad Asif of Pakistan showed great determination and his positive approach towards the sport by opting to play despite terrible back pain and winning his Last-32 stage match 5-3 against all odds.


When he arrives at the venue, he wasn’t able to walk properly but he didn’t lose his focuse and went on winning the first frame of his match against Shachar Ruberg of Israel. Though Shachar sent a clearance break of 96 points to level the match and won the next frame too to lead 2-1.

Keeping aside his all pain, Asif countered him with break of 65 points in 4th frame and then two breaks of 53 and 74 in 6th & 7th to lead 4-3. Eighth frame was quite close and stretched till the last where Asif succeeded with score of 66 against 55 to secure his match.

He is now playing his pre-quarter match against James Mifsud of Australia and leading 2-0 while posting this report.
