Day Six – Friday 6th August

The final group matches were played today to see who would qualify for the automatic 24 places in the last 32, and which players would finish in the seed places from 25 to 40, who would then play to achieve their place in the last 32.

Group A

Robert Carlisle Qualified for the knockout stages, even with his loss to Patchara Mayoe by 4frames to 2. Patchara Mayoe qualified by winning this match against Carlisle.

Vinny Muldoon and Li Yan had one of the matches of the tournament so far, breaks of 63, 53 & 69 by Yan, and breaks of 74, 69 and 79 by Muldoon took the match to 3-3. Then Yan kept his composure with a total clearance in the last frame of 134. Both players were already through to the knockout stages already.

Group B

Sean Conway needed to win to qualify for the knockout rounds and did so by winning 4-1 against Mitchell Van den Bergh. Li Hang beat Biernadski from Poland, Hang was through to the knockout already and his win put Biernadski out of the tournament. Pakpoj and Ruberg fought out for the number one and two spots in the group, with noth players undefeated. It was Pakpoj who won a close match by 4 frames to 3 and topped the Group.

Group C

Stephen craigie beat Jason Devaney 4-0 and topped this Group, Devaney still qualified in fourth place. Polands Zielinski and UAE player Khamali also qualified from the Group.

Group D

Wong from China Hong Kong won against McCabe from Sweden by 4 frames to 0 and topped the Group. Libian player Anga beat New Zealander Swain by 4-3 and knocked out swain and qualified himself for the knockouts. Sam Cragie qualified in top spot without losing a frame, and Tony Moore from Ireland also made it out from the Group stages.

Group E

Jamie Clarke from Wales finished top of the Group without losing a single match. Stefanow from Poland qualified with a four nil win over Libya’s Gerwash. Greg Casey from Ireland also Qualified from this Group even with a defeat from Netherlands Arya Sohrabi. Campbell Dunlop also qualified from Group E.

Group F

Hirani won his match against France’s Ochoiski by 4 frames to 0. Hirani from Wales finished second in this Group. Kamsad of Thailand qualified fourth from the Group with a win of 4-2 over Israel’s Bismoot. Michel Leslie topped the Group and Ireland’s David Cassidy finished 3rd.

Group G

Northern Ieland’s Declan Brennan qualified second with his win over Alsenan from Saudi Arabia. Rhys Clark from Scotland finished top of the Group with 7 wins from 7. Julius Grauls from Belgium beat Mohamed Aly from Egyot 4-2 , but both players still qualified from this Group.

Group H

Alobaidli from Qatar won his match 4-0 and qualified in the top spot in this group without losing a single match. His opponent Grixti from Malta qualified from fourth position in this Group. Ireland’s Gareth Boyle had a close match that went in the favour of his opponent Vermeiren by 4 frames to 3. Boyle finished second in the group and Vermeiren finished third.

Group J

Nick Jennings finished top of this Group with 7 out of 7 wins , and only lost 1 frame in the round robin stages. Sharif from Libya lost 4-3 to Dalitz from Australia , but both players qualified for the knockout stages. Dylan Murray from Northern Ireland also qualified.

Group K

Kurt Brown qualified from Group K, along with Josh Boileau from Ireland and both Jurian Heusdens from Belgium and Roman Dietzel from Germany also qualified from Group K.
