Amir Sarkhosh emerging as break machine

It’s the second day of competition and so far Amir Sarkhosh from Iran has already made five breaks in two matches he played. Yesterday he made three breaks but couldn’t reached the three digit, succeeded today and made 113 while playing against Marios Kleitou of Cyprus.

Advani exhibits good breaks

The defending champion Pankaj Advani was in good form and won his second consecutive match of group stage at World Snooker championship. Today he took on Maris Volajs of Latvia and crafted three breaks of 55, 63 and 74 points to win 4-nil.

Asif set new high break of 138

Muhammad Asif of Pakistan cracks up with the splendid break of 138 points to set a new high break of the competition surpassing previous best of 125 which Chinese player Yuan Sijun made few minutes before.

Asif was playing against Hisham Nadi of Egypt and in second frame he took on from the first opportunity to go on and made a fabulous clearance of 138. Later he scored another break of 60 points to close the match proceedings 4-nil in his favour.


With this, the day one had seen total three century breaks. Apart from these two, Mohammed Rais Senzahi from Afghanistan had also crafted 103 points break in the morning session.



The local boy from Qatar, Ahmad Saif, was also in a good form and finished his match with a well-crafted break of 85 points against Alexis Callewaert of France. He won the match 4-nil.

However, Felix Frede from Germany was on the verge of losing his first match but he recovered well on time in 6th frame to change the fate of his match.

Felix started up well and pocketed the first frame but after that Belan Sharif of Sweden countered him smartly to take 2-1 lead. Though Felix won another frame to come at par but Belan was quick to reply and stay on lead.

The sixth frame was crucial where Belan could have won the match but Felix pulled up on black ball game to set a decider and in last frame he dominated to seal the match 4-3.

Sarkhosh made magnificent breaks. Senzahi scored first century

Amir Sarkhosh from Iran was on fire and scored three magnificent breaks to win his match 4-2 against Mongolian player Enkhjargal Enkhbaatar. Though Enkhjargal tried to curtail Sarkhosh and pulled out two frames but Sarkhosh had excellent break building technique as he scored 82, 81 and 91 points clearances to close the proceedings.

Hong Kong player Ka Kai Wan registered a sensational victory over her opponent Waratthanun Sukritthanes of Thailand. She was down two frames but shown the match winning temperament to convert that trail in magnificent win.

Players and Referees meeting on the eve before commencement of matches

The first Officials, Referees and Players meeting held today evening at Hotel Holiday Villa where Tournament Director, Mohammed Salem Al-Nuaimi (the General Secretary of QBSF) was present.

The IBSF Vice President, Mr. Maxime Cassis also joined him along with IBSF Overseer, Mr. Michael Al-Khoury, Local Head Referee Mishlesh Al Khayarin, Assistant Tournament Director, Shoaib Alam Khan and the International Head Referee, Joseph Lo from Hong Kong.

The matches shall start tomorrow morning at 10 AM and there will be total four session every day.

As apprised earlier, the IBSF has made arrangements to air live streaming through our website for matches on Table No.1 to 4 and the live scoring is available for all the matches throughout the competition.
