World Billiards Team Championship at Glasgow

The International Billiards & Snooker Federation is now introducing World Billirards Team Championship from 11th till 14th August 2014 at the Ball Room, Glasgow, UK. This is another joint production with the World Billiards Limited.

Each country is allowed to send 2 teams of 3 players each and the last date of sending entries is 20th July 2014

Referees accommodation & daily food Allowance
Accommodation will be supplied on a twin share basis for all International Referees. Breakfast and one extra meal allowance to be offered to all International Invited Referees. No allowances will be payable to any other officials, delegates or players.

VENUE INFORMATION
Venue address:    the Ball Room, 31 Ledard Rd, Glasgow G42 9RA, UK

It will be held in the Ball Room, a great new games club in the south side of Glasgow, only 10 minutes from the city centre. The club has 10 tables in two segregated rooms Cloth: IBSF 6811 Tournament Select   Balls: Aramith

TRAVEL
Air
Glasgow Airport is a 15-min taxi to the city centre or the event location.
Prestwick Airport is a bit further – a 50-min train journey to the city centre.

Road
Coming from the south, the M74 serves the south of the city. From the east and south, the M8 comes into the centre of the city.

VISAS
Visas are required by many countries; please check with the British Embassy in your country.

Drug Testing:
Players may be subjected to Drug Testing in accordance with the WCBS Drugs in Sport Policy.

Currency  - Local currency is British Pounds.

Entry Fee
There an entry fee of £30 per 3-man team. Details on payment will be published on the World Billiards site.

Prizes
The winners and runners-up will receive medals.

Second world title for Hossein Vafaei

The former World Champion Hossein Vafaei Ayouri from Iran has now added another feather in his cap by winning World Under-21 Snooker title today here in Fujairah, UAE. In the final he defeated Josh Boileau of Ireland 8-3 in best of fifteen frames final.

The Under-21 Women Champion is, Jessica

After lots of fluctuating performance during last 9 days, finally Jessica Woods from Australia succeeded to lift the 2nd IBSF World Under-21 (Women) snooker title here in Al-Fujairah, UAE.

In the final she defeated Amornrat Uamduang of Thailand in the decider frame 4-3. The entire match swung like pendulum and till the end either of them could be the champion. Infact during the last moments of play, Jessica had miscues on blue and it appeared Amornrat could be the new champion but she gave another chance, which Jessica successfully converted into pink pot to become champion.

Jessica started her campaign in this championship by winning three matches in group of five players and qualified as Group No.3. In knockouts she defeated back to back two Russian girls Anastasia Nechaeva and Daria Sirotina to enter in final where she proved her supremacy and won the title.

She spoke to IBSF Media to put her views after becoming champion.

World Under-21 Snooker finals underway

2014 IBSF World Under-21 Snooker finals are underway.

The men's final is between Hossein Vafaei Ayouri of Iran and Josh Boileau of Ireland. Referee of the match is
Abdulhamid Abdulkarim of UAE.

The Women semi final is between Jessica Woods of Australia and Amornrat Uamduang of Thailand. Referee of the match is Peggy Li of Australia

The session start with introduction of players and the guests present were Michael Alkhoury, Tournament Overseer; Jim Leacy, IBSF President; Sultan Al-Joker, General Secretary UAEBSA; Joseph Lo, Head Referee; and Ahmad Hashem, Tournament Director.
