2017 finalists Wendy, Waratthanun to play final of 2018

Today Waratthanun ousted current Asian Women Champion, Amee Kamani of India 4 frames to 2 in best of 7 semi-final.

Arguably Amee had an upper hand over the match and accordingly she gave a good start to the match. Showing clear potting skills, she took away the first frame having score 62 against 52 but Waratthanun responded in next frame and sealed that 73-53.

In third frame, Amee returned with a frame-finish break of 50 points to maintain her lead and again well-crafted counter attack by Waratthanun to level at 2-2.

In fifth frame Amee had few unforced errors and Waratthanun used those opportunity to snatch the frame, which could have gone to Amee.

That frame was decisive and Waratthanun taken over the command after that playing brilliant shots in sixth frame to close the proceedings in her favour 4-2.

She will now meet the defending champion, Wendy Jans of Belgium who just edged into the finals with a nail-biting 4-3 win over another Thai girl Nutcharat Wongharuthai.

Wendy raced into a 1-0 lead but Nutcharat struck back by reeling off two breaks of 41 and 68 to led 2-1. The match continued with one more frame to Nutcharat and Wendy came almost to a situation of an exit, but she held her never much better and secured next two frames despite having trail to take the match to 3-3.

In decider it was Wendy who shown her class and applied all her experience from to curtail Nutcharat on a score of 13 and she herself score 61 points for setting up final against Waratthanun on Tuesday morning.
