Defending champion Wendy Jans by virtue of losing one match and Tatjana Vasiljeva two in their respective groups, their seeding for the knockout went down and both met each-other to play the first knockout match (Last-24 stage) against each other.
Both had remained European Women Champions before. In-fact Wendy is also the reigning champion in Europe as well as in the World.
Knowing all facts, Tatjana gave a persuasive start having a break of 37 points but that wasn’t enough as Wendy on her chance responded with an identical break of 36 points to pocket first frame (75-46).
Tatjana didn’t rest after that and fought hard in the second frame too but Wendy maintained her supremacy and took away the frame by very close margin (62-50).
By that time, Wendy had ascertained her victory and emerged stronger in third frame to outclass Tatjana from the competition. She scored 50 against 3 points of Tatjana.
Wend will now take on seed No.7 Aye Mi Aung of Myanmar en-route to defend her title.
