Kothari survives from an early exit threat

Sourav Kothari - India Sourav Kothari - India IBSF Media

Former Asian Billiards champion, Sourav Kothari had fallen into a deep trouble when his sparring partner from the same club, Brijesh Damani, unexpectedly dragged him into the deciding game of Last-12 match of World Billiards 150Up competition.

Though Kothari gave a brilliant start with a break of 127 points and prima-facie it appeared a one-sided contest as Brijesh is well-known for his snooker skills. But all were wrong as Brijesh played well controlled game after Sourav missed on 145 points in second game. Here, Brijesh scored a break of 81 points to stay at par.

Later they both won alternate games as Brijesh strongly countered every move of Sourav to stay at par. Worth mentioning, Sourav was also controlling well. In fact he scored an unfinished break of 150 points in fifth game.

Once Brijesh pulled him into the decider, there was no other option left for Sourav except showing his consistency, which he actually did by crafting break of 130 points to knockout Brijesh 4-3.

Sourav will now take on Mike Russell of England in Quarter finals tomorrow morning.
