Dhvaj Haria shocks Mike Russell; Dhruv survives against Robert Hall

Indian youngster, Dhvaj Haria caused first upset of World Billiards 2017 150-Up format when he defeated multiple time World Champion and one of the finest exponent of Billiards, Mike Russell clearing deciding game by a narrow margin. The World Billiards Championship began today morning at Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha.

Russell gave a good start sending contribution of 129 points break to claim first game. His momentum was strong in the second game too but missed out after scoring 133 points and gave a chance to Dhvaj, which he converted into game win to come at par.

However, Russell continued his dominance with another break of 108 points to continue on lead but once again Dhvaj controlled fourth game and entered in the deciding game.

It was the crucial moment for Russell, hence he geared up with intentions to clear in one go, which appeared successful, but after reaching on 121 points, he missed a pot on top-table. After that Dhvaj sent a counter break of 53 points to stay in the game.

Though both got few visits but in the end Dhvaj scored winning shot to defeat Mike Russell 150-140 and claim first match win.

In another match, Dhruv Sitwala of India survived by winning the deciding game against Robert Hall of England. The alternate game wins put both of them into the decider, where Dhruv missed on 127 and then Robert Hall played a fabulous recovery and reached 133 points.

After that both found themselves struggling and gave chances to each other but finally Dhruv went ahead and closed the match proceedings by winning decider frame by 17 points.
