Gilchrist – Advani set stage for Point format final IBSF Media

The defending champion Peter Gilchrist of Singapore and the versatile multiple time world champion Pankaj Advani are ready for the clash of titans in the 2016 World Billiards championship 150-Up finale. The match will be played shortly for the Best of 11 games.

Both the players have sailed smoothly from the semi-final round that was today morning in an one-sided affair.

The first semi-final was between Pankaj Advani and Aung Htay of Myanmar where Advani compiled five century breaks in all the five games leaving no scope for Myanmar player Aung Htay. Htay definitely would have received good tutorials watching the game of Advani and managed to score single break of 96 in third game but before he could do something more, Advani sealed the game scoring break of 122 points and later closed the match proceedigns by winning next two games having breaks of 117 and 142.

The second semi-final Gilchrist won 5-1 against Indian player Dhvaj Haria. Gilchrist started up with an unfinished break of 151 points but Haria managed to snatch away the second one crafting breaks of 76 and 61. He tried to send some jitter to Gilchrist in third frame as he was close to seal the game but missed out an in-off that allowed Gilchrist to take 2-1 lead.

After that Gilchrist did not allow him to score much as he sealed remaining three games crafting breaks of 84 and 65 in third, 150 unfinished in fourth and finally 99 in fifth game to meet Pankaj Advani in the final.

If Gilchrist wins, this would be his first ever double crown of Billiards, whereas for Advani, this would be his fourth.
