Damani keeps the hope alive

Brijesh Damani of India kept his hopes alive for the knockout stage after defeating the English player Nalin Patel in the late evening match.

Damani had already lost two matches against the current Asian champion Dhruv Sitwala and former World No.3 Bhaskar Balachandra.

Though he had secured one game in each match, but couldn’t secure the match. In such a do-or-die situation, he took on Nalin Patel and played comparatively much steady game and scored breaks of 63, 54, 75 and 63 in all three games he won against Nalin to stay in race for knockout.

Meanwhile, Rob Hall secured a good win against Long Up format finalist Sourav Kothari of India.

The match played between them was highly competitive with an opening break of 109 in first game by Sourav.

After that the tug-of-war began and both crafted breaks in each frame but Rob Hall held his nerve better in last frame with two breaks of 64 and 81 to defeat Sourav 3-2.
