Sourav Kothari stuns defending champion Pankaj Advani

"Begnal tiger caged the Karnataka Lion in his own den". Known as ‘Bengal Tiger’ in the Indian Cue Sports fraternity,Sourav Kothari put in his all experience and knocked out the defending champion and strong title contender Pankaj Advani 1000-644 in the Long Up format of 2016 IBSF World Billiards Championship here at Bengaluru, India.

As expected, Advani’s starts up from the second visit itself and compiled breaks of 66, then 172 in third and 96 in sixth visit to take 300+ lead over Sourav.

Till then watching Advani’s game as mute spectator, Sourav came inforce with his first attack and compiled break of 198 to cut the lead. After reaching closer, Sourav kept scoring small breaks at regular interval to stay in contest and then in 18th visit he posted break of 181 to take small lead over him.

They both contest well and stayed at par till the 26th visit but after that Sourav took a giant leap by posting a match winning break of 293 points to leave Advani way behind. However, Advani once again attempted for a big break but after compiling 106, he missed the red pot that he played very slow. Sourav, after that, scored balance 51 points to cause one of the biggest upset.
