Welshman Andrew Pagett has moved to the Quarter final stage of IBSF World Snooker 2016 here at Al-Sadd Sports Club in Doha, Qatar.
Andrew had established a good control over his game in the Last-16 stage and knocked out Indian challenge Lucky Vatnani. Andrew carried away the initial three frames almost one-sided and got a good command over the match.
The fourth frame was crutial for both the players as had different perspectives. Where Andrew was eyeing to raise the lead, Lucky was desperately looking for a break-through. In that tug-of-war, the frame had an extremely close finish in favour of Andrew by one point.
However, after that Lucky managed to win two frames to narrow down somehow but not that enough as Andrew posted a match winning break of 78 points to shut the doors for Lucky and advanced to Quarter finals.
In quarter finals he will take on the player from Pakistan, Muhammad Bilal, who has just now defeated the Under-21 silver medallist Alexander Ursenbacher of Switzerland 5-3.
This was again a high quality match as the 20 years old Alexander shown his dominance and hit-out with top breaks of 62 and 53 to take up 2 frames lead.
It was an unexpected move for Bilal and timely he countered the Swiss player by post two breaks of 64 and 71 to come at par. However, Alexander won another frame but that remained his last joyous as Bilal pocketed next three frames in a row with a century break of 100 points to confirm his berth for the quarter finals.
