Varsha Sanjeev - India Varsha Sanjeev - India

Indian girl Varsha Sanjeev, who recently won the bronze medal in world Team Snooker Championship, has now defeated the defending champion, Yana Shut of Belarus 4-1.

Yana was in fine run throughout the league stage and had grabbed 2nd seed for the knockouts but in her first single elimination round, she failed to face the force driven by Varsha.

The first frame was one-sided where Varsha scored 62 against 15. She carried the same momentum in next frame too where the score was 68 against 37 in favour of Varsha.

Though Yana constructed a valuable 31 points break to recover from 2 frames down, but Varsha managed to pull fourth frame narrowly and raised the lead to 3-1.

In next frame, Varsha made a break of 34 points to reach in medals round closing all doors for Yana for this year’s Under-21 championship.
