Amy Claire King made it through to last-16

Amy Claire King - South Africa Amy Claire King - South Africa IBSF Media

Amy Claire King from South Africa pulled out last two frames on a narrow margin to knockout Kathy Howden of Australia and confirmed her place in the pre-quarterfinals that will be played tomorrow.

Amy was down 1-2 when she made recovery and won the fourth frame to come at par. After reaching at level, she countered well the much experienced Kathy in next two frames and dodged her narrowly in both the frames to cause upset.

However, the other two players from Australia, Theresa Whitten and Jessica Woods did well to step in the pre-quarter finals.

Where Jessica blanked Nahla Sunni 4-0, Theresa was too good to register impressive win against India's Varsha Sanjeev. Versha was in good form and posted two breaks of 47 each in first two frames to gain 2-0 lead. From there Theresa fought well and countered Varsha in each frame to post 4-2 win and confirm her berth for pre-quarters.

Another Indian player, Chitra M. won 4-0 against her compatriot Sunita Khandelwal to meet former European Champion, Tatjana Vasiljeva of Latvia in pre-quarter stage.
