Shandilya recovered on time to escape knockout lose

Ashok Shandilya from India was under threat of losing Last-32 knockout match against Christopher Taylor of England.

Chris was in commanding form since start and maintained good lead in first hour of play when Shandilya got a breakthrough and made breaks of 109 and 81 points to recover the trailing points and impose 59 points win on Englishman Chris.

The day was not so good for England where other Englishmen Nalin Patel, Ian Williamson, Jonathan Marwood, Mark Hirst, Brian Harvey, Jamie Barker and Phil Davis also made an exit in Last-32 stage.

Jonathan Marwood was once leading by over 100 points against Pankaj Advani but when Advani geared up, the finished by 458 points victory margin in favour of Advani.

Nalin Patel was also not in his real form and lost his match to young player from India, Aditya Agrawal. Aditya scored worthy breaks of 98 and 151 to keep up handsome lead. Whereas Nalin's chances to recover finished when he missed a crucial break on 93 points.

Harvey, Barker and Davis had nothing much to do against the strong challenge they received from Devendra Joshi, Sourav Kothari and Phil Davis.

Last 16 matches will start at 1800 hours tonight.
