History was created in the game of Billiards in Ireland today when Peter Gilchirst hit his career's second 1000+ break against Northern Ireland's cueist Chritian Kirk. But like so many other great moments of sports after achieving a goal all steam runs out, so was the case with Peter when he missed a pot in the very next shot after making history.

Peter is now the first player in the modern game to have two 1000+ breaks.

Today's break was played mainly in floating white top of the table, but he struggled to continue on the same several times at around before crossing the 500-mark. He had three consecutive difficult screw cannons before he could work himself into perfect position again.

He once again landed himself in trouble on 844 as he required an extremely thin long loser to get back into position, which he mastered to perfection.

Continuing his break to 891, he got a covered position, where he needed a short-range 'masse' to continue, which he mastered as well!

The 1000-break prize was sponsored by mywebsport.com of Austria.
