Lee Walker - Wales Lee Walker - Wales IBSF Media

Lee Walker is now the only competitor for Europe in 2013 IBSF World Championship title. Today morning in quarter finals there was a direct contest between Asia and Europe as all four matches were between players from Asia and Europe. Where Asian players won three matches, Lee Walker of Wales was the only one who stand alone in the title race. He defeated Muhammed Shehab of UAE 6-3.

Shehab was leading 3-2 when Walker put in extra efforts to win the sixth frame by just one point to level the match. After that he did not look behind and shattered in form Shehab by producing two magnificent breaks of 119 and 137 to gain 5-3 lead. The last one was a mere formality as Walker closed the proceedings by winning that frame 69-04.

In other three quarter-final matches, Asian players, Zhao Xintong (China), Zhou Yuelong (China) and Muhammad Sajjad (Pakistan) defeated Jeff Cundy (England), David Hogan (Ireland) and Michael Collumb (Scotland) respectively to confirm their berth for the semi-final stage.

Jeff Cundy was an unexpected loss for Europe as he played excellent game throughout the tournament. In this match also he started well with a break of 93 points but every time Zhao replied same way and won in style 6-4.

The semi final line up is:
Lee Walker (Wales) vs. Zhou Yuelong (China)
