In a closely fought battle, Matthew Bolton managed to win crucial Last 16 match against Peter Gilchrist from Singapore.
The match swung like a pendulum and both the players were reluctant to loose any string at any cost.
First it was Gilchrist who broke with 97 points break to pocket the game and Bolton managed to win the next. In third game Gilchrist again returned with 109 points break and continued the zeal in the next too, but there he went out of position and missed after crafting 106. Bolton took the charge and with the help of small but gradual scoring, he put himself again on level with Gilly. In fifth frame Gilly once again scored unfinished 148 points to step ahead.
The sixth game was the most crucial one where Gilchrist was so close to win the match but went very far. A cross cushion cannon missed by him cost a lot when he was just 6 points behind. Bolton scored remaining 40 points from odd positions to level 3-all.
The decider went one sided where Bolton cracked with an unfinished 139 break to get into Quarter Finals.
