When the IBSF works for Peace
17 Nov 2007
The spirit of sportsmanship has at last shone through with the first meeting of a sportsman from Israel competing against a player from Egypt. This momentous occasion occurred in the IBSF World Snooker Championships that are currently being staged in Korat, Thailand.
Mohammed Samy from Egypt and Roei Fernandez played the first sports event between two nationalities of these countries since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948.
The IBSF is very proud to be the sport that has achieved this meeting and is following the Olympic Charter of encouraging everyone to play sport with only sportsmanship and friendship uppermost in the player’s minds.
The IBSF is committed to continue with their efforts to support the ideals and ambitions of the International Olympic Committee.
