REWARD FOR MAXIMUM

Syria is known for many reasons like sculptures, its variety in food and of course the traditional dance, but in cuesports it is now been known for one great reason i.e. the ‘maximum’ in snooker. On 9 December 2010 Rodney Goggins from Ireland leading 3-0 got a chance on scattered red because of a miss by Konstantinos Mavroforos from Greece, which Rodney without wasting started picking every single red in a combination of black very precisely and potted 14 red to meet first hurdle on 15th red which was near the center pocket (pocket No.5). He potted that and from there only potted the black, which was very difficult but Rodney’s skills and perfect flow of the table made it possible for Rodney to advance further for a maximum, which he converted without any prompt.
This 147 has given a joyous atmosphere in the venue and outside as well. Those were enjoying sunshine outside rushed inside to witness the heat of maximum and greet Rodney for his fabulous achievement. Rodney was very happy on his achievement. His coach, P.J. Nolan, was also happy with the performance and he quoted this as a fantastic show by Rodney and gave credit for this 147 to his hard work in his lengthy practice sessions.
IBSF congratulates Rodney as well for this wonderful achievement and also to the table manufacturer ‘Shender’ for providing fantastic match condition tables. Even for the tables, most of the contingents were happy as they praised by saying that they are not finding any difference between one tables to another. The feel was same, the flow was superb and cushion response of these tables were also up to the mark.
For this wonderful achievement the IBSF, during the closing ceremony of World Snooker 2010, offered a ‘Shender’ snooker table with a new Aramith 1G ball-set to Rodney Goggins at his place in Ireland. The same is being delivered very soon.
